Question / Help Echoing audio on YouTube Live, but not the Archived stream

I am testing out using a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 to stream video to YouTube Live from OBS. It mostly works great and also records the FLV files just fine. However, I had reports from at least one of the viewers of the test stream that the audio was echoing between 1 and 2 seconds one after the other.

I've read that this can occur if you have audio enabled both in "Settings" and also in the "Video Capture Device" source. I disabled it in the Video Capture Device source but kept it in Settings which usually solves the problem for folks.

The weird thing is that the audio was echoing for the viewer when he was watching it live, but when I look at the archived live broadcast it doesn't have any echo in it.

Any suggestions? Thanks so much for the great software that was exactly what I was looking for.

viewer had two tabs of you open. This has happened to me on occasion when I middle click a broadcaster.

If its not an issue on the archive, its not your issue. This goes for buffering as well and performance related issues as well.

OK. Thanks for the info. I'll ask him if by any chance he had two tabs open.

He's not especially tech savvy and I can't really picture him with more than one tab open, but maybe that makes it more likely he did it by accident rather than less.

Its the only logical explanation. When it first happened to me I alerted the broadcaster, he checked his settings and they were all good. then, I realized I had the two tabs open. I quickly shut one and all was right in the world. And yes, multiple windows will not be at the same buffer point always.

Great, I sent him an email asking him about it. I haven't heard from anyone else that watched it live. Most of the video is me on the phone with the guy hearing the echo talking to him about the echo, heh.

Off-topic, but I don't know how I missed OBS when I was searching for anything to stream video for months. I only found it after looking in to YouTube Live and Google recommended it as an open source software option for sending content.

Well, you called it. He had accidentally double clicked on the link in the email. Apparently it's his habit to double click stuff. He initially said that he had only one open, but then reopened it to check and realized that he now had three open and playing!
