Filters not showing up in 31.1.2

Hello OBS Community,

I am perhaps the newest user of OBS, trying to learn various features through help like this and YouTube contents.
I am on OBS 31.1.2 (64 bit) and I have Windows 11. I am facing following issues in filters of Video Capture Device (laptop camera in use). Can y'all please help?

1. I do not see Chroma Key as in-built
2. I do not see Background removal option after downloading the plug-in from official OBS site
3. I do not see mask/blend filter either

I have tried re-installing OBS multiple times (zip and installer both), restarting the app and laptop. None of this seems to work as of now.
Any help will be appreciated!

Hello @Anonymous_93
  • Chroma Key - under Sources, select the entry for the Video Capture Device; select Filters; under Effect Filters, click +. You should see Chroma Key listed.
  • Background Removal - I don't believe there is a built-in Background Removal filter in OBS Studio. If you have a Green Screen, you should be able to do it with the Chroma Key filter. If no Green Screen, there is a Background Removal plugin.
  • The Image Mask/Blend filter should also be listed under Effect Filters.

I hope this helps. . .

Hello Tony,

Thank you for your reply. I understand the path given by you. However, my problem is that I am not able to see Chroma Key (as an in-built filter) inside Video Capture Device > Filters > ...

See the snip below. These are the only filters I see after clicking on + button. I installed/re-installed application and rebooted my PC multiple times. I am not able to figure out what is wrong here. I am on OBS 31.1.2, Windows 11.

There are 2 filter sections, one for Audio/Video filters and one for effect filters. The filter you're searching is an effect filter, but you opened the menu for adding audio/video filters. Instead, click on the + in the bottom left corner of the window.
