I'm using OBS in attempt to just view/scan what is on some family VCR tapes. I did this a couple years ago, but have apparently forgot how this all works.
It's possible I was using an older Macbook with a built in USB that did not require this USB to USB-C dongle. It seems unlikely these simple hardware scalers and capture cards are incompatible with my current laptop.
When I select my Video Capture Device in OSB, the option I'm selecting is USB Video. It's the only logical option, but I've seen in help videos were OSB is picking up the specific capture card in use.
Looking for ideas on how to troubleshoot this.
- In short, I have a VCR with output R, Y, W cables going to an AV2HDMI scaler
- HDMI from the scaler going to an HDMI - USB capture card
- The capture card USB is connected to a USB to USB-C dongle
- Which connects to my MacBook
